Prof. (Dr.) Asha Singh completed her Doctoral Research in 1982 on “Poverty in English Economic Thought- from Adam Smith to Arthur Cecil Pigou.” She worked at the Magadh Mahila College for over 24 years in different capacities, Professor, Head of Department and Principal. She was Head, Department of Economics, Patna University, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Member of the Senate, Syndicate and Academic Committee.
She was the founder Coordinator of B.Com and B.B.A. courses. She has been Member, Advisory Committee, Academic Staff College. She has many publications in various books and renowned journals. She is also a life member of many organizations and research institutions.
She was the organizing secretary of International Conference on “Youth Unemployment in India: Dimensions, Challenges and Strategies” organized by Department of Economics, Patna University in collaboration with Institute of Human Development, Eastern Regional Centre, Ranchi, sponsored by ICSSR, NABARD, ILO & Fredrick Stiftung(2013). She was the organizing secretary of ICSSR/UGC sponsored seminar on “Social Security for Unorganized Workers in India”. She was associated with UGC sponsored seminar on “Impact and Future agenda of banking and Financial Sector Reforms in India” at MagadhMahila College (2006).
She has successfully completed many research projects and was appointed as the Team leader of Bihar by NUEPA (CPRHE) jointly with the ICSSR, New Delhi in a project entitled “Reforming Higher Education for Civic Learning and Community Engagement”. She has also successfully completed minor research project on “Women Agricultural Labour in Bihar: A Socio Economic Study with Special Reference to Jehanabad District” sponsored by the UGC.
Presently she is a Member, Research Advisory Group, Fair Chance for Education for a tenure of 5 year starting February 2018 initiated by the University of Warwick, UK.
